Students participating in commencement
ceremonies will receive an MU diploma cover along with a congratulatory
letter. Approximately 12 weeks after graduation, personalized
diplomas will be mailed to each student.
To ensure that you receive your diploma,
with the name you want to appear on the diploma, please do the following:
Policy Related to Changing Names for Students at the University of Missouri (Effective March 2009). Current students and alumni of the University of Missouri may change their names in the student records system for University of Missouri use during or after attendance according to the following:
- For a student to change his/her name, legal documentation is required showing proof the student's new name. A name change may be processed either in person, at the Office of Admissions, 230 Jesse Hall, or through the mail, provided the necessary documentation is submitted with the request. The mailing address is: Office of Admissions, 230 Jesse Hall, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO 65211.
- The student must submit a court-order, marriage license or divorce decree verifying the change of name. The document needs to include both names.
- Students may abbreviate a middle name(s) without documentation. However, documentation is required if a student is adding or deleting a middle name or changing an initial to a name.
Update your permanent mailing address.
To confirm or update your permanent mailing address (the address where your diploma will be mailed) visit myZou
. To change your address, you
need your pawprint and password. Changing your permanent mailing
address will not change your billing address used for
other correspondence from MU.
